Dr. Ahmed Akl got his Bachelor of medicine & surgery from Mansoura University, Mansoura, Egypt in 1994 then obtained his Master of Internal Medicine from the same university in 2000 followed by obtaining his Doctor of Medicine in internal medicine from Benha University, Benha, Egypt in 2007 in addition to getting his Fellowship Certificate in Nephrology from Oxford University, Oxford, United Kingdom in 2004 .
Dr. Ahmed Akl started as a resident in the department of Nephrology at Urology & nephrology center, Mansoura, Egypt from 1994 to 2000 then worked as a Specialist in the department of Nephrology at Urology & nephrology center, Mansoura, Egypt from 2000 to 2007 then as a Consultant in the department of Nephrology at Urology & nephrology center, Mansoura, Egypt from 2007 to 2018 along with working as a Fellow in the department of Transplantation at Oxford university, Oxford, UK from 2002 to 2004 and as a Fellow in the department of Transplantation at North western university, Chicago, USA from 2013 to 2014 and as a Fellow in the department of Transplantation at Nantes university, Nantes, France from 2009 to 2010 .
In addition, Dr. Akl is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and American Society of Physicians.
Dr. Ahmed Akl has obtained the following:
1- Prof. Fakhry prize in internal medicine from the The Egyptian Academy of scientific research & technology in 2002.
2- Distinguished fellow’s award from International society of nephrology in 2005.
3- Prof. Elhussieni El Ghoniemi prize from Arab society of nephrology & transplantation in 2006.
4- Best Arab medical research 2008 from Abdel Hamid Shoman Foundation Amman/ Jordan in 2008.
